Stories Inspire. Stories allow you to reflect, laugh, cry, and engage with new and familiar ideas. Stories are so much fun to tell and to experience.
That is why I am so thrilled to share with you our 48th Season of the Stephenville Theatre Festival with Our Season of Stories. From a bombastic Broadway show that will dazzle and entertain with Shrek the Musical, to the “croons and swoons” of the dinner theatre with Come Sail Away, there is something for everyone this summer.
We hope that this year will be a first time live theatre experience for many with shows like Grumpy and Grimm, and that some people will return to hear songs they love in our Made in Canada – Twoonie Edition performances. Featuring amazing local and returning artists in the Canadian Musical Bingo Ladies celebrates the continued focus of STF to showcase acclaimed local artists alongside world class performers. This year we also have 6 LEAP participants in our musical ensemble who are between the ages of twelve and eighteen and who get first hand experience working as part of a professional team.
All the sets and props you see are built here; and our wardrobe team has done an incredible job of working with existing costume pieces and reimagining them to fit our unique company. The artistic team is incredible and has gone above and beyond to bring you “big theatre in a little town”. It takes over fifty professional artists, dozens of volunteers, our small and mighty admin team and a town full of community partners and sponsors to bring you these landmark shows.
This season emphasizes how heart, grit, compassion and being true to oneself are the only superpowers needed to go on a great quest. We hope that you enjoy your journey with us, and that you leave longing to see and share another great story!
